All About Shunyou
About Me
Hello. My name is Shunyou. I am a caligrapher living in Fukuoka, Japan.
I have a running theme throughout all my work.
In Japanese we write it as four kanji characters: 温故知新.
Translated it means: Creating the new with influence from the old.
I think that while looking back and admiring the traditional things that history has left us, new ideas and creations are bound to form.
As a calligrapher, I want everyone to experience the wonder and peacefulness that comes from calligraphy. And at the same time, I want to bring calligraphy into the modern age and show how the beauty of calligraphy is perfect for any age.
I hope that my calligraphy can be a bridge and bring us all together.
