Today is the first day of 立夏(Rikka)

Today is the first day of 立夏(Rikka) in the 24 solar terms (Nijushisekki)!
According to the calendar, we have entered the summer ministry.

The calendar divides the year into 6 parts: spring, summer, autumn, winter, and winter.

The first of the summer Sekki is “Rikka”.
立夏Rikka→ 小満Shoman → 芒種Boshu → 夏至Geshi (Summer solstice) → 小暑Shosho → 大暑Taisho

The next 24 solar terms are
小暑Shoman on May 21!

立夏 Rikka
The beginning of summer.
The most comfortable season of the year with neither hot nor cold, low humidity, and refreshing breezes.

七十二候 Sichizyuniko
A calendar that further divides the 24 solar terms into three parts.

The first season (around 5th~9th)

蛙始鳴 Kawazu Hazimete Naku

The time when frogs begin to be active after waking up from hibernation.

The next season (around 10th~14th)
蚯蚓出 Mimizu Izuru
Around the time when hibernating earthworms emerge from the soil

Last season (around 15th~20th)
竹笋生 Takenoko Shozu
Around the time bamboo shoots start to emerge
Harvest time varies depending on the type, and can be harvested from March to June.

Today is also “Tango no Sekku” or Children’s Day 🎏.

It is a pleasant season with carp streamers swimming in the fresh blue sky 😀.
